This is a rose leaf tattoo covering two old English letters done in blue ink. I like to do covering tattoos that transform an older tattoo, that is no longer relevant to the client, and create a new tattoo that they love. It’s one of the perks of being a tattoo artist. There is not much to say about this tattoo, so I want to take a moment to talk about the transformative nature of art. In many mediums, art can always be modified to take a subject and turn it into another different piece of art. Take a painting. A painter spends time creating dozens of painting to get better at it. Some paintings can be salvage and enhanced into better paintings, sometimes as a means to create another painting. The same goes with a tattoo. If a client does not like a tattoo done from years ago, maybe in haste, she doesn’t have to keep it. It can be transformed into a newer and more relevant tattoo. If you have a tattoo that you no longer like, you don’t have to settle for it. Get it transformed into one you like.
